The History of the Peru Public Library
The Peru Public Library is an institution that is beloved by many people in our community. Well over 100 years after opening, the library continues to serve the people of Peru, Indiana. Sometimes over looked or taken for granted, the library is steady as a rock. It has seen wars, epidemics, depressions, natural disasters, and faced ever-changing laws and new technologies. Yet it still goes on. Through the hard work and dedication of the people who love it, the library remains. Some would argue that it is the ever-beating heart of our little city. The history of the library is so vast, it would be difficult to include every person or event that has impacted the library’s story. The information provided here is a brief overview of some of the main events that occurred in the history of the Peru Public Library.
